Kelsee Michelle Sweigard was born in the capital city of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. A proud Aries, Kelsee found her passions early on, and stayed busy with lots of dance, piano and voice lessons, pitching on her school's softball team, and swimming competitively throughout her home state. It wasn't until high school that Kelsee discovered her love for Musical Theatre! In high school, she continued dancing, sang for two consecutive years in PMEA District, Regional, and All-State Choirs. She also performed regularly mid-state in venues such as The Hershey Theatre in her sweet backyard of Hershey, PA.
Shenandoah Conservatory was Kelsee's home as a student in the BFA Musical Theatre program. There, she performed in Sweet Charity, Into the Woods, The Secret Garden, The Diviners, American Idiot, The Best Little Whorehouse..., and Illyria. While in college, Kelsee taught herself to play guitar and nurtured her love for singing in pop/rock music styles. Kelsee also spent two seasons at Shenandoah Summer Music Theatre, her favorite credits including Les Misérables, Chicago, Crazy for You, Shrek, Man of La Mancha, and Mary Poppins.
Kelsee's professional life has included a summer at Flat Rock Playhouse in How to Succeed...(dir./choreo. Richard J. Hinds) and Gypsy (dir./choreo. Amy Jones), and another at Great Plains Theatre as Rhetta Cupp in Pump Boys and Dinettes. She has traveled the world with two contracts on Holland America Line, and recently finished the US National Tour of Kinky Boots (dir. DB Bonds, choreo. Rusty Mowery). In New York City, she has performed in developmental workshop and concert performances of All Star: The Best Broadway Musical, Ragtime (Ellis Island - dir. Sammi Cannold), and Agent 355 (le Poisson Rouge). Currently, she is playing Maureen Johnson on the 20th Anniversary Tour of Rent.
